Cruise Trips Feed a Lot of Passengers
By Gail Leino

One of the best things about a cruise besides the ocean view is possibly the range and plethora of foods that you can eat. It’s literally, food, food, and food all the way to your destination, which can ruin your figure for that tiny swimsuit you bought, but who can resist the joys of so much good food?

This is one of the ways cruise lines lure in the passengers. Food is relatively inexpensive compared to other luxuries and you have a better chance of keeping the passengers from complaining too much about problems if their mouths are stuffed with food all the time. Cruise lines make sure you are never very far from a chance to eat and there may be as many as 10 meals scheduled daily.

Some cruises will have fairly regular fair, just a lot more of it, while the more expensive cruises will invest more in exotic foods. You can usually check out beforehand a sample menu of foods that are offered by the cruise lines in order to get an idea of what you may like the best. They will usually have classics like fried chicken, mashed potatos and macaroni and cheese and more exotic foods like stone crab, and lobster.

If you have special dietary requirements you can inform the cruise line when you book passage. Though many will all ready have low salt, low fat, low sugar, and vegetarian items available.

There is a basic daily schedule for three meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will be expect to chose which sitting for each of these meals you’ll be attending. Other than that though you are free to choose to attend any of the other eating opportunities as you please, this might include a late night buffet, or brunch by the pool.
