Windstar Cruises Tops Celebrated Living’s 2007 Platinum List
Jul 13, 2007

Seattle, July 16, 2007 – Windstar Cruises was recognized as the best small-ship cruise vacation by the discerning readers of Celebrated Living. The prestigious honor was published in the 2007 Platinum List, an annual reader’s choice guide to what the publication touts as the “best-of-the-best” travel and vacation experiences in the world.

This year, 38,000 Celebrated Living readers weighed in to create a list of the Top 10 cruise lines, 130 luxury hotels, 48 legendary golf courses, and 26 sumptuous spas. Readers praised Windstar for its laid-back, unstructured lifestyle and the chic, high tech surroundings that marry the intimate feel of small ship sailing with the luxury and comfort of a cruise vacation. Specifically, respondents noted the calming atmosphere on board, the small number of guests and special touches such as hammocks on deck as details that make the Windstar experience top in its category.

“We’re very proud that our beautiful fleet of ships and our crew’s commitment to excellence achieved this outstanding recognition,“ said Diane Moore, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Windstar Cruises. “This award is especially meaningful as it recognizes the work we’ve done in the past year to enhance our fleet and support our vision to create an outstanding vacation experience that is 180 Degrees from Ordinary®.”

In 2006, Windstar launched a multi-million dollar initiative called Degrees of Difference® that added even more luxury amenities on board all three of Windstar’s sailing ships including luxury linens and mattresses, L’Occitane bath amenities, Riedel stemware in The Restaurant, wireless Internet access, Apple iPod® Nanos and more. Work to enhance the ships continues in 2007, with extensive improvements to public spaces and staterooms across the fleet.

Windstar’s commitment to providing guests with the most casually elegant, enriching and luxurious cruise vacation has earned high praise from the some of the most notable names in the travel world. In 2006 and 2007, the line received recognition as a “Top Ten Small Ship Cruise Line” by Travel + Leisure, and all three ships in Windstar’s fleet of luxury sailing yachts were lauded among “The World’s Best Small Ships” by Condé Nast Traveler readers.
